Kung nakamit mo ang anumang antas ng tagumpay sa buhay, o kung mahal mo ang iyong trabaho o negosyo, you would probably have grappled with the challenge of “work-life balance” sa isang punto.
Well, I am about to ask you na itapon ang dilemma na iyon out of the window.
Isipin mo lang ito: Kung mayroon kang listahan ng pinakamahalagang tao at goals that you would care about at your deathbed, who or what would they be? Gaano kahaba ang listahan na iyon? Not very long, di ba?
Kaya narito ang susunod na tanong – if focusing on those few things that matter ay nangangahulugan ng letting go of things that don’t matter as much, ito ba ay masama? Hangga’t nabubuhay ka fully with no regrets, Mahalaga ba sa iyo kung gaano kabalanse ang buhay na iyon?

Ngayon, kung hindi work-life balance ang sagot, ano? Let’s get to that right now:
COUNTER-BALANCING INSTEAD OF BALANCING
Ang Work-life balance ay isa sa 6 “lies of success” na tinalakay ni Gary Keller discusses sa kanyang librong The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results.
Keller points out that na kapag nagbigay tayo ng time at focus sa kung ano ang mahalaga, it takes time away from lesser priorities, at awtomatiko tayong mawawala sa balanse.
Extra-ordinary results only come with extra-ordinary commitments – trying to take a middle position ay nagdudulot lamang ng mediocre results sa lahat ng larangan.
Ang solution ay hindi ang mamuhay ng balanced life, but to apply counterbalance, so you never go so far na hindi mo na kayang mahanap ang iyong daan pabalik.
HOW DOES COUNTERBALANCE WORK?
1. Tukuyin ang iyong Big Why, at ang biggest ONE Thing na dapat mong gawin. Give it 100% until you conquer it.
2. Nangangahulugan ito na mawawalan ka ng balanse, but you can use counterbalancing (infrequently) upang matugunan ang iba pang mga priyoridad. You can use different counter-balancing approaches para sa trabaho kumpara sa personal na buhay:

Develop self-awareness upang malaman mo ang dami ng oras at lakas that you are investing into your friends, family, hobbies, spiritual growth, at anumang bagay that makes you feel whole and complete.
Siguraduhin mong you don’t neglect any one area too long (maging isang lingo, buwan o taon) without counterbalancing.
ENERGIZING YOURSELF WITH THE “20% THRESHOLD”
Sa Nine Lies about Work, Marcus Buckingham gives a slightly different solution. Iminumungkahi niya na the real battle ay hindi tungkol sa balancing work versus life. Ito ay tungkol sa pagbalanse ng mga bagay na mahal natin laban sa kinasusuklaman natin.
