I am so glad you decided to make the investment in yourself and learn how to build a profitable business.
I am sure you are excited to start signing high-tickets and experience the freedom of being your own boss. Can you imagine earning an income working from home or cute cafes all over the Philippines and even the world?
This business starter kit will guide you through the first steps of building the foundations of your business up to signing your first high-ticket clients!
There is so much I want to share with you but for the sake of simplicity I gathered the most important steps to get you from defining your unique niche and offer up to celebrating your first cheques!
In this article you can expect to find answers to some of the most asked business questions such as “How to validate my offer?” and “Do I need a website to get started?” I know that sounds like a lot but trust me, if you work on the following tasks one step at a time you are going to create a functional business in no time! So, relax, grab your favorite drink and let’s have some fun!
1. BUILD A SUCCESS MINDSET
Mindset work can make or break a business. The right state of mind and attitude can completely change your experience and results even when following the same strategy and steps. Do you have a CEO mindset?
- What do you believe about yourself as an entrepreneur? Do you see yourself hitting your milestones in the next 12 months?
- If you have any negative thoughts, where are these coming from and how are they affecting your actions as an entrepreneur?
- Let’s imagine you know you will accomplish more than you thought possible in a year. How do you feel and how do you show up daily? Can you do more of these actions today?
- What do you need to believe to show up as your best self every single day? Repeat these phrases daily.
- Let’s find a deepest purpose to keep yourself motivated in the long run. What is your why? What is the real reason you want this to work?
- Write down an ideal day in your life as a successful entrepreneur. What can you do starting this week?
2. DEFINE YOUR TARGET MARKET
When you try to serve every Filipino citizen, you serve nobody. Let’s define your ideal customer, the person you will have in mind when creating your offers and writing content. This will give you so much clarity on your next steps so add as much detail as you can.
- Name
- Gender
- Age
- Location
- Education level
- Marital status and kids
- Job and income
- Hobbies and interests
- Where do they hang out online?
- What are their life goals and desires?
- What are their biggest challenges and how do they feel about them?
3. CRAFT YOUR OFFER
Every offer should be created to bring your ideal client from point A (where they are now) to point B (where they want to be). If you were at point A right now, what support would you need? Start with ONE signature offer and master it before expanding your product suite.
- What is your ideal client’s point A?
- What is your ideal client’s point B?
- What is the support you offer? Write down your modules, features and resources included.
- What is type of your service? (Ex. 1:1 sessions, group program, done-for-you service)
- Choose a name for your offer.
- How much will it cost? When setting your prices always consider your financial goals and how many clients you can serve per month.
It may help you considering what YOU wanted to know or hear when you had the same struggles your ideal client has now.
4. VALIDATE YOUR OFFER
It is so easy to fall in love with our offer but let’s make sure others feel the same way too. Let’s conduct market research to validate your offer!
Before you say that’s too much time let’s find out the bonus benefits: You gather data to craft a killer messaging by observing what phrases your ideal clients use + You get your offer in front of potential clients (Remember: This is NOT a sales call so don’t pitch during a market research call.)
- Create a list of ideal clients and ask them to do a market research call.
- Use polls on Instagram and Facebook to gather data.
- Send a survey to your audience or email list.
- Promote your offer and pre-sell spots before you create it.
Make sure you ask them the following
- Their current situation and goals.
- What is currently holding them back.
- What kind of support they need.
5. CREATE A KILLER MESSAGING
The words and phrases you use to describe your ideal client, the challenges you solve and your offer have to be on point to attract and convert an ideal client.
They have to feel “Wow! It is like they are reading my mind!” in order for them to feel connected with your brand and what you do! So how to create a highly relatable and magnetic messaging?
- What phrases did your ideal clients use during the calls? (It helps a lot if they are recorded but always ask for permission to record)
- What is your audience saying in the DMs?
- You can also check relevant Facebook Groups and Youtube channels for data. What are people saying in the comments?
- Create a list of phrases and use them often when creating content.
- Create your value proposition – The short introduction you will use to explain what you do: I help [Target Market] to [Goal] by [Method].
6. MARKETING PLAN
What content do you need to create for your business? It depends on the business you are creating but I would highly recommend starting with one social media platform to attract potential clients, an email list to nurture your leads and a landing page for your offer. I would like also to recommend the Free all in one marketing platform which is Systeme.io
- Which platform will you focus on to grow your audience?
- Pick an email marketing software and set up your email list (I use SENDINBLUE and SYSTEME.IO). You can create a free resource to drive traffic to your newsletter.
- Create a monthly plan of the content you will create including educational posts, your personal story, behind the scenes, video content, company updates, your newsletter, offer promotions and Lead Magnet promotions.
- Create a landing page for your offer (It is an easier and free alternative to creating a website and it works well to communicate your offer).
- Be social and collaborate. Reach out to other entrepreneurs and search for relevant Facebook Groups to connect and share your knowledge.
7. PROMOTE YOUR OFFER
Now that everything is ready, let’s promote your offer and sign your first high-ticket client! There are plenty of ways you can do that but remember the Attract-Nurture- Promote rule! When selling high-ticket offers you have to make sure your ideal client knows about you, what you offer and how your offer can improve their lives!
- Promote your offer focusing on the transformation you provide. Explain who it is for, what’s included and social proof (you can use your own transformation or free clients).
- Use engagement elements (Ex. Polls) and CTAs and start nurturing your ideal clients in the DMs. Once you validate they are a good fit you can offer to help them or book a Discovery Call to explain your offer further.
- Create an email sequence that nurtures your leads and directs them towards your offer. (Ex. 3-5 emails following your Lead Magnet)
- Create a training showcasing why you are the expert and explain how would it be working with you.
- Collaborate and get in front of new audiences.
- Be creative and find a sales strategy that feels aligned to you!
8. NOW IT IS TIME TO GET INTO BUSINESS
Setting up a business can be a very rewarding experience where you get to design the career and lifestyle you want, work from home and have more freedom but it can also be an emotional rollercoaster (don’t say I didn’t warn you!).
Here are a few things I wish I knew and did sooner that will help you stay motivated in the long run.
- Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint. You may have a failed launch or campaign but this does not define you as an entrepreneur. We all make mistakes so reflect, refine and try again!
- Build a strong network of likeminded entrepreneurs you can reach out for support and business advice. Not sure where to start? Type “Female entrepreneurs” on Facebook and search for relevant Groups.
- Set smaller goals and celebrate them! Keep up the momentum and you will stay motivated for longer.
- Don’t compare your journey with others’. Everyone started their business having a different background and skillset and you never know how many times they tried and failed before getting where they are.
- Have fun! Don’t forget to enjoy the journey as well, not only the destination.
Congratulations!
You have successfully completed the Business Starter Kit.
I hope you got clarity on your first steps to start signing high-ticket clients. I know if feels like a lot but this guide covers only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to building a sustainable business and hit consistent income goals!
