I would like to share an insight on why we need to Trust God in our life. Without trust, I don’t think it’s possible to lead a normal existence in this world.
When you drive your car speeding at sixty kilometers an hour, what separates you and the cars coming in the opposite direction—also speeding at sixty kilometers an hour—is this thin, white-painted (usually faded) line in the middle of the road.
Have you ever wondered, “What if that driver of the oncoming vehicle just broke up with his girlfriend, was fired from his job, lost millions at the casino, and decides to cross that fine, white-painted line in the center of the road to ram my car and end it all?”
You won’t be able to do anything if you don’t have trust in some way. You can only drive or travel because you implicitly believe that other drivers are rational individuals who won’t cross the thin, white line in the middle of the road.
You cannot survive a single day on this planet if you do not trust. You’ll become immobile.
Similar to this, many Filipinos in today’s society are spiritually paralyzed. Why? because they have no faith in God. Your life can only be made simpler if you have a firm belief in God’s love for you.
Here’s what Jesus said,
“So my counsel is: Don’t worry about things—food, drink, and clothes. For you already have life and a body—and they are far more important than what to eat and wear. Look at the birds! They don’t worry about what to eat—they don’t need to sow or reap or store up food—for your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are. Will all your worries add a single moment to your life? . . . So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time”
(Matthew 6:25-27, 34, TLB)
Jesus discussed all of our concerns, not just those related to food and clothing.
Many Filipino multimillionaires I’ve met still worry about finding enough to eat and wear. The same is true of many of the poor Pinoys I’ve encountered. What we do on the inside is more important than what we do on the exterior.
Perhaps today has been a difficult day for you. Perhaps you are now going through a difficult struggle and are unsure of what to do. God is saying to you: “Do not worry about the future. Tomorrow, I’ll take care of you.
God is declaring: “Your chair is me. Take a seat. Rest.”
Today, I understand that our biggest concern is how valuable we are. Today, so many individuals feel unworthy in their hearts.
Do you feel unworthy when your loved ones reject you?
Do you feel unworthy when you fail in work or school?
Do you feel unworthy when your marriage fails?
Do you feel unworthy when you let your parents down?
I invite you to turn to God right now and express your faith in Him.
You are worthy, important, and precious in His eyes.
The last word on the matter is what He says about you.
Believe in Him. Place your faith in what He says about you.
I hope you will embrace this lovely truth—that you are God’s cherished.
