Best in car washing.
Sa totoo lang, I find it funny and exasperating at the same time.
Ang araw ko ay laging nahahati between house chores, daddy duties, and business matters but most of the time, the latter’s always the one being overlooked.
It has become my problem for a couple of weeks already at naapektuhan nito ang aking business and my performance greatly. And because of my deep frustration sa mga nangyayari, I’ve handled my situation poorly, I became reactive to my circumstances instead of being responsive.
Then one morning while I was washing the car, I was contemplating my dilemma when a thought came in – “do everything with excellence.”
Naalala ko na minsang binanggit ito sa akin ng aking mentor, so I started to reflect and assessed my situation and it somehow became clear to me that it’s not my situation that’s been the problem, but my attitude on how I’m dealing with it.
I reacted to my situation, blindly looking for immediate solutions outside. I became so irritable, I felt like what I’m doing completely makes no sense, that it’s unproductive. I could do greater and better things. I entertained the negative emotion building up my chest and it started to corrupt my thoughts and it ate me up whole. Creating excuses for myself and my poor performance. It’s a disaster.
Gladly, that thought came in like a rescue, I believe it is God helping me to discern and look at my situation from a different perspective.
It’s a story about a professor who asked his student to take a guess how much they think the glass he’s holding weighs. I won’t tell the whole story here but to share with you, the moral of that story is about what happens to us if we hold on to life’s problems too long.
How a seemingly light problem could turn into something so heavy that it becomes paralyzing if we hold on to it for a long time. It’s important for us to think about our challenges or problems in life but what’s even more important is to ‘PUT THEM DOWN‘.
Natapos kong hugasan ang kotse with a smile on my face and in my heart knowing that if a small problem could turn into something big, so are great and wonderful things in our life!
In whatever we do, as long as we do it with all our heart and dedicate it to the Lord we shall be rewarded.
Do everything with excellence and with a cheerful heart.
If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception; it is a prevailing attitude.
