I hope you’re staying healthy, well and full of gratitude during this crazy time in the world for the past three years.
I thought I’d check in and share with you what’s been on my mind lately.
Last couple of years being self-isolated at home, I started looking back at past photos and videos of my travels over the last few years.
Looking back at them now, I realize how truly grateful I was to have had the freedom to travel and live freely without any constraints.
With everything that’s been going on lately and the restrictions put in place, it made me realize how super important it is to never take things for granted, no matter how small or big they appear.
Sometimes you have to go through hard times to really get a reality check and realize how important it is to practice gratitude.
It’s like the saying..
“As life becomes harder and more threatening, it also becomes richer, because the fewer expectations we have, the more the good things of life become unexpected gifts that we accept with gratitude.”
During these uncertain times, it’s worth reflecting on how gratefulness might help to calm us, reduce fears and expectations, open us to greater clarity and love, and fuel action grounded in our deep intentions.
Gratitude is not a solution for all the difficulties we face.
It may not cure or solve our anxiety or concerns BUT it can foster ease, connection, kindness, and well-being – all qualities we need from each of our fellow kababayans right now.
Allow yourself to appreciate what is available to us during this time: phones, electricity, showers, the beauty and resilience of the natural world, and so much more.
Allow yourself to be grateful for the goodness of our people, such as all the sacrifices of our front-line workers who are caring for us and our governments who are doing everything, they can to combat this pandemic.
And lastly, allow us to be grateful for the things that are truly important to us, our health and our relationships. Connect with your loved ones over the phone or via email and let them know you care about them.
We all need to be connected and supportive to one another during this tough time.
The bottom line is.. when life becomes more trying and challenging, it’s important we start practicing gratitude and keep the faith as there is always light at the other end of the tunnel.
While some things might be out of our control, much of what happens based on our thoughts, emotions and behaviors, are largely to do with how we perceive things and our attitude towards it.
So start being thankful today.. Be thankful for the difficult times, because it is during those times you grow. It will build your strength and character and will make you a better Pinoy than what you were yesterday.
