It is not enough to be busy. The real question is: what are we busy with?

ALAM MO BA?
Did you know na ang cork ay nagmula sa tree bark ng Quercus suber, isang medium-sized na evergreen oak? They strip the bark from the tree to make cork, but it doesn’t kill the tree and they can re-harvest again in nine years from the same tree. Turns out, cork is one of the most sustainable materials on the planet.
MICRO IMPACTS
Yung iba gusto pang baguhin ang mundo, “Change the world”, ika nga nila.
Generally, that means making a difference in the lives of thousands or even millions of Filipinos and other people.
But it’s often been said that you can either have…
- A big impact on a small group of Filipinos.
OR
- A small impact on a big group of Filipinos.
They don’t “change the world”… and yet they do change the world for the Filipinos who can feel their ripples.
REAL LIFE EXAMPLES OF MICRO IMPACTS
Let me give you a few examples mula sa aking sariling buhay…
Kuya Jimmy owns a grocery store just across the street from my apartment in Baguio City. Kuya Jimmy regularly organizes big lunches with customers (tatlo sa mga ito ay dinaluhan namin!) and this has become one of our favorite things. We meet new Baguio people and immerse ourselves in Baguio culture.
I often do workout classes at the gym I attend and there’s one teacher in particular whom I really enjoy. Siya ay palaging may malaking ngiti sa kanyang mukha and he clearly puts a lot of effort into the classes he does. His classes are always the fullest for obvious reasons.
The coffee shop where I spend my time relaxing has a manager who loves his job more than most people. She is very friendly, puts a smile on virtually everyone’s face. I always enjoy running into her.
EVERY PINOY CAN HAVE MICRO IMPACTS
Also, in what capacities are YOU this person to OTHER PEOPLE?
The world has become very connected.
It’s easy to dream big.
Every Pinoy can have impact impacts.
At kadalasan, having a big impact on a small group of Filipinos is a lot more gratifying than having a small impact on a big number of people.
