This Secret of the Millionaire Mind book makes the claim that our ability to succeed financially is decided from birth and explains how to overcome mental obstacles and adopt the ways of the wealthy.
To get you started on altering your own financial perspective, consider the following three lessons:
- You naturally have a tendency to adopt your parents’ financial tactics.
- You must first acknowledge that you are in charge of your finances if you wish to take control of them.
- Don’t hate the wealthy.
Are you prepared to transition from losing money to making money? Let us go!
Lesson 1: You probably attempt to obtain wealth in the same manner as your parents.
Think of your mother baking a delicious chocolate cake (I sure hope she does!). as well as your desire to make one yourself. Hey Mama, how are you preparing that chocolate cake?” is likely the question you would ask her when seeking her advice.
Then your mother would give you the recipe and guide you in making it correctly. She might respond, “Oh, that’s the way I learned to do it from your grandma, it’s the way we’ve always made chocolate cake,” if you question her why you’re doing things a certain way.
You’re in for a treat if you recognize that: Now consider how you generate income. Does that not reflect what your parents have been doing for years almost identically as well?
We frequently adopt the same approach to our careers as our parents had our entire lives, which is why it’s so usual for sons of doctors to become doctors and daughters of attorneys to become lawyers.
You’ll probably land a regular job if your dad has a regular work. You’re more likely to launch a business at an early age if your parents are business owners, etc.
Although perfectly normal, most of us strive for more, so copying our parents’ spending habits won’t be successful. But how can you alter your way of thinking?
Lesson 2: Acknowledge that you are in charge and begin managing your finances.
Let’s visualize the situation. Your pay day is at the start of each month. Imagine that each and every $1 bill is a passenger on a bus that travels through the course of a month stopping at various locations. Some dollars depart from the rent stop, while others depart from the supermarket stop, while still others disembark at the dry cleaner.
Do you picture yourself sitting in the very last row of the bus, watching all of your valuable dollars leave as it is being driven by someone else, when you think of this metaphor? At the end of the month, we frequently wonder, “Where did it all go?,” and feel victimized since so many other people have grabbed all of our money.
Nevertheless, the reality is that you have always been the one in control. Making a change begins with realizing that you are ultimately responsible for all of your financial decisions. Step up to your role as a bus driver instead of sitting in the backseat and watching your money evaporate while blaming the government, your company, or the economy — you are the only one who decides who gets off at which stop!
Quit whining, examine your spending, and make the necessary adjustments.
Lesson 3: Don’t hate the wealthy.
This one stood out to me because, despite its subtlety, it contained the truth. You will never become wealthy if you despise the wealthy.
In order to attract prosperity and money, you must have a favorable attitude toward them. You shouldn’t act ostentatious all the time, but if you want to become a millionaire yourself, you can’t look down on or distrust other millionaires.
You won’t be able to interact with millionaires, absorb their knowledge, or fully appreciate what they have to teach you if you have such a scarcity attitude.
I’ve done this previously. I used to worry about issues like friends simply wanting my money or the absurd notion that becoming wealthy would somehow make me a bad person. First of all, don’t waste time and energy trying to fix it because it isn’t a problem that you and I currently face. Furthermore, it is highly unlikely to occur.
So stop whining, look at what has to be done objectively, and then take action so you can start learning from the proper people.
