TIP #1: HOW TO BE MORE LIKABLE!

It’s really something that we, pinoys all want: Ang magustuhan at mahalin ng iba!
Here are the 3-steps that you need to follow:
- Ask more questions and look into the person’s eyes. – Kapag may nagsasalita, be genuinely interested in what someone is sharing and look at them in the eyes.
- Make them feel valuable and important. – Human beings just want to be seen, heard, and understood. Kaya, makinig sa iba, make them feel like they truly matter!
- Refrain from giving advice. – Do not tell people what to do. Makinig sa kanila and ask some questions upang tunay na mas maunawaan sila and so that THEY can find the solutions/answers to their problems/questions.
Sinasabi ko sa iyo, if you do these 3 steps, you’re going to be super likable and that’s going to help you build your confidence.

TIP #2: GET SELF-CONFIDENT HEROES…
Ito ay isang tip that my colleagues absolutely LOVE! Ito rin ay isa sa mga tools that helped me A LOT to build my self-confidence…
Step #1: Think of 2-3 persons that you think are VERY self-confident. Ito ay maaaring isang taong kilala mo o kahit isang taong sikat!
Step #2: Imagine a specific situation in which you would like to be more self- confident (makipag-usap sa isang taong hindi mo kilala, magbahagi ng iyong opinyon sa isang meeting, acing an interview/presentation…).
Step #3: Imagine being in their skin! If you would be them:
- What would you think to feel self-confident? What would be your thoughts? Maybe “I can do this, I have nothing to lose to try!”
- Ano ang mararamdaman mo? Bold? Capable? Empowered? Optimistic? Secure? Trusting?
- Ano ang sasabihin mo?
- Paano ka kikilos?
Step #4: Act as they would! No need to reinvent the wheel. Follow their example! They weren’t born super confident!
TIP #3: EMBRACE REJECTION!
Anuman ang sitwasyon, we try to avoid rejection as much as possible! The worst that can happen is feeling a negative emotion. And this is confidence: Being able to handle any kind of emotion, Tutulungan kita diyan.

Step #1: Start by being aware of situations in which you might be afraid of being rejected. Tanungin ang iyong sarili: In what everyday situation are you avoiding to take action because you are afraid of feeling rejected? Being more aware is essential!
Step #2: Redefine what “No” means. Kung may nagsabing “hindi” sa iyo, they are actually saying “No, I do not want what you are offering to me right now at this moment.” Nothing more! Tomorrow, later, it’s possible!
Step #3: Unawain ang difference between failing VS being a failure. Self-confident Pinoys are never giving up, they are also “failing” but they are not making it mean anything about them!
Step #4: Thrive on the concept of “Antifragile”. Nassim Taleb came up with the idea of being antifragile. What does it mean? Bahagi ng sinasabi niya is that we should embrace and thrive when we get rejected.
Tip #4: EMPATHY WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE AND HERE’S WHY…
What is empathy? Empathy is the ability to see reality as the other one.
Step #1: Understand that everyone is trying to have their needs met! Everyone looks at reality through his/her own glasses. Dahil sa ating mga karanasan, our values, our beliefs, we all have good reasons to look at things in a certain way.
Step #2: Put yourself in someone else’s shoes! Ask yourself the following questions:
- Kung ako ang nasa kalagayan ng taong ito, considering my experiences, my values, my beliefs, how would I react?
- What would be my thoughts and my emotions?
- Ano ang kanyang mga dahilan to act like this/say something like this?
Step #3: Understand that ALWAYS, people just want to feel seen, heard, and understood. Reminding you this will help you in taking things less personally!
Step #4: Understand how empathy is actually helping you A LOT in building your self-confidence.
Tip #5 and last one: THE TIME CAPSULE IDEA!
Tutulungan ka ng tip na ito in putting things into perspective and understanding what does really matters to you and what doesn’t. Tuklasin kung paano ito makakatulong sa iyo to build your self-confidence.
Step #1: Imagine yourself on your deathbed. It’s a bit of a dark thought but try it. Ngayon, nagbabalik tanaw ka sa iyong buhay.
- Ano ang nakikita mo?
- Ano ang tunay na mahalaga sa iyo?
- Do you really care about what people think? What do they say about you? Tungkol sa buhay mo?
- What do you really want to look back at?
Step #2: Imagine the exact day and exact hour you will die. I know it’s a bit dark (again!) but imagine the day and hour you’re going to die. Let me show it with me as an example. I was born in 1982, so I may be alive in 2082, but let’s imagine that I may die on the 4th March of 2080 at 5 pm. SUPER NAKAKATAKOT, right? There’s no time to care about what others think of you!
Step #3: Go back to the present without taking yourself too seriously! After imagining this far away and quite dark situation, go back to right here right now and understand how much you should care about what YOU think about your life!
